AeroShell Oil 100 Aircraft Engine Oil 1 Quart
Reliable straight mineral lubrication for aircraft piston engine break-in. AeroShell Oil 100 is a premium SAE 50 single-grade aviation oil designed for suitable aircraft piston engines, particularly during the initial operating period following engine manufacture or overhaul.
Its straightforward mineral formulation without ashless dispersant additives distinguishes it from the AeroShell W-series oils.
Designed for Aircraft Engine Break-In
Newly manufactured and recently overhauled aircraft piston engines may require a specific break-in procedure to promote proper seating of piston rings against cylinder walls.
During this process, some engine manufacturers specify the use of straight mineral aviation oil without dispersant additives.
AeroShell Oil 100 is intended for these applications when the engine manufacturer or overhaul facility approves an SAE 50 mineral oil meeting the relevant specification.
Break-in duration, engine operating procedures and oil change requirements vary by engine and must follow the applicable technical documentation.
Straight Mineral Oil Without Dispersant Additives
AeroShell Oil 100 contains no dispersant additives.
According to Shell, its only additives are small quantities of pour-point depressant and antioxidant.
This distinguishes it from AeroShell W100, which contains ashless dispersant technology for applications where that formulation is specified.
SAE 50 for Moderate Ambient Temperatures
AeroShell Oil 100 has an SAE 50 single-grade viscosity.
Shell identifies an ambient temperature range of 16°C to 32°C for this product.
Compared with AeroShell Oil 80, which has SAE 40 viscosity, AeroShell Oil 100 is intended for relatively warmer ambient conditions when approved by the engine manufacturer.
The correct viscosity must always be selected according to the manufacturer's current recommendations.
AeroShell Oil 100 Compared with AeroShell Oil W100
Although both products have SAE 50 viscosity, their formulations and intended applications differ.
AeroShell Oil 100: Straight mineral aviation oil without dispersant additives, primarily intended for approved engine break-in procedures.
AeroShell Oil W100: SAE 50 ashless dispersant aviation engine oil for applications requiring dispersant technology.
These products should not be considered interchangeable solely because they share the same viscosity grade.
Applications
AeroShell Oil 100 is intended for approved applications in certified four-stroke aircraft reciprocating piston engines, except Porsche aircraft engines, and certain radial engines requiring SAE J1966 oil without dispersant additives.
It is primarily used during the break-in of new or recently overhauled aircraft piston engines.
Always confirm the applicable engine and overhaul facility requirements before use.

Important Application Information
Use AeroShell Oil 100 only where the engine manufacturer or overhaul facility approves the corresponding oil type, viscosity and specification.
Not all newly manufactured or overhauled engines require straight mineral oil. Always follow the applicable break-in instructions, operating procedures and maintenance requirements.
Dispose of used engine oil at an authorised collection facility. Never discharge lubricants into drains, soil or water.
